Russia has been stripped of this season’s Champions League final due to the escalating situation in Ukraine.
this decision was made following the country’s invasion of Ukraine with the match now set to be played in Paris.
The final was due to take place at 68,000 capacity Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg on May 28th but UEFA president Alexksander Ceferin in a meeting today with the European football governing body called it quit.
St Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena had been awarded this season’s final but Russia’s assault on Ukraine, which continued into a second day on Friday, has forced UEFA to take action.
European football’s governing body held an extraordinary meeting on Friday to discuss alternative locations for the May 28 final as the crisis in Ukraine escalate and voted to move the match to the Stade de France.
