Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, says he has received information that a Nigerian Monkeypox carrier – whose present whereabouts are unknown after he fled medical custody in Thailand – has fled to Preah Sihanouk Province and has ordered police to urgently investigate the case.
In a voicemail released just now, Mr. Kouch said that “The Department of Tourism, the Department of Labor and other stakeholders continue to pay attention to the news that [the carrier] has arrived in Sihanoukville, so please increase management with a sense of responsibility and attention. If you find any, please report to the health to take action as soon as possible .
At the same time, the provincial governor ordered all departments, units, local authorities, the Armed Forces to investigate this work urgently and effectively to avoid any risk.
